THE TRIAL SMILE

One
of Dr. Hansen's trademark secrets that make his smile
makeovers with porcelain veneers look so natural
(and stunning) is the "Trial Smile." During
the typical porcelain veneering process, once your
teeth are prepared for the veneers, a temporary
material should be applied to protect the teeth.
Some dentists use dental acrylics-but many dentists
don't do temporaries at all!
Dr. Hansen makes his temporaries by hand out of bonding
material, and he will spend an hour or more hand
sculpting the bonding material, directly on the patient,
to look like beautiful teeth. He will take into consideration
the shape of your face, your complexion and your
specific desires to custom-tailor a new smile right
before your eyes. Few dentists actually use bonding
material and put in the extra effort due to the increased
costs and the increased artistic skill required to
do this.
So: Why does Dr. Hansen spend all of that time on "temporaries?"
"
I want my patients to have the opportunity to test-drive
their new smiles before actually placing the permanent
veneers," he says. "After the Trial Smile
is placed, I have you wear your new smile for about
a week, then come back to the office for a follow-up
consultation with me. At that visit, I discuss with
you, in detail, the changes that we have made to
your smile. We discuss the length, the shape, the
color and other details of your new smile. I then
do some additional fine-tuning to perfect the temporaries.
Why? Because I want all of my patients to tell me
that they love their smile."
Dr. Hansen then takes molds and digital photos of
the approved Trial Smile. Your new permanent veneers
will be adapted from your trial smile.
I would be very wary of any dentist who told you
they could make you a new smile in two visits," Dr.
Hansen says. "Without having the opportunity
to see what the new teeth will look like, and discussing
things you like -‚ as well as the things that
you don't like-with the doctor, you are missing perhaps
the most important part of the process. After all,
this procedure is all about you-not your dentist!
I can't think of too many other cosmetic procedures
that allow you to preview the results."
